A Session with John Ferrett
Once we have agreed a place and date for your dog photography session and talked through an initial brief, we are all set for the day
I always spend time at the beginning of the dog photography session getting to know your pets. This way, we will get the very best photos as they will be more relaxed and their personality will shine through. For dog photography sessions, there is no limit to the number of dogs, but if you are bringing more than two dogs, it would be helpful to have a spare pair of hands during the shoot
Dog photography session images and pictures can be purely “just about the dog” or can incorporate family members too, giving you a wonderful collection of family and pet portraits together.
If you can, bring along your dog’s favourite treats and toys and any props you may want to see in the final images of your dogs. Sessions can be at a location you choose (Dog walk or local park / woods etc) or, if you would prefer, here in Portessie, Buckie Morayshire. Where we have miles of stunning coastline and woods to choose from, we really are spoilt for choice!
I also cater for puppies who may not be quite big enough to venture to far from home yet! Puppy photo sessions often take place within the owners home, where we capture a wonderful mix of play and sleep with your new family member.
Ideal images to own before they grow up! Pictures of Puppies and Dogs are always very special, and give you a wonderful memory to keep forever. I will take hundreds of photos, leaving me with plenty to choose from for the final editing.
Using the very latest editing software, I can ensure you are presented with the very best photos from the session.
Sessions usually take up to 2 hours but are not timed.
After the dog photography session the work really begins as I commence the post-production process. Throughout the hours spent on this element, I select the best images in terms of technical quality, composition, emotion and impact.
Once this is complete, we reconvene together to go through the images one by one. This part of the process is the viewing session, but other photographers sometimes call it “the reveal”.
It’s in this session that you can pick and choose which images you’d like to have in which products, print or digital. There’s never any pressure to purchase anything, and if you don’t want to, that’s fine!
Feel free to request a price list prior to booking your session to see which products we offer. As a general guide, most clients tend to invest between £400-£1000 on their signature portrait products.
That’s pretty much a session start to finish – if you’re ready to begin, scan through the section below then get in touch. I can’t wait to speak to you soon.
